Health Insurance Is Required in Massachusetts

Under a new state law, most residents of Massachusetts are required to purchase health insurance. If you cannot show proof that you had coverage in place by December 31, 2007, you will lose your personal exemption ($219) on your state income taxes filed in 2008. As of January 1, 2008, the penalties add up one month at a time. The monthly penalty for 2008 can be up to 1/2 the cost of a monthly health plan premium.

Under the Health Care Reform Law, Massachusetts employers of 11 or more full-time-equivalent employees must offer a Section 125 Plan. Click here to find out more information.

Call us today at (413) 253-5555 or Contact our Health Insurance Specialist to learn how you can avoid this financial penalty and get the health insurance coverage you need to protect you in case of illness.

We work with these fine carriers to provide individual policies for our customers who are self-employed or who cannot obtain coverage through their workplace:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Fallon Community Health Plans
  • Health New England
  • Tufts Health Plans
